Time for some good news or some bad news, depending on which side of the fence you’re on (and no, I did not suddenly start using Windows again).
I’ve taken a job overseas, and I leave in 10 days, which unfortunately means that this blog is likely to be unmanned for an indeterminate period of time.
I know, it breaks my heart too. But like I said, it’s either good news or bad, depending. And for me, it’s kind of both. I’ve enjoyed keeping notes on my Linux experience, perhaps even as much as (I hope) you’ve enjoyed reading them.
And it’s not necessarily permanent. I’ll have to get used to a new timezone, a new job, a new schedule and a new culture, and if it’s at all practical, I’ll take up my Linux journey for a while longer. But for the immediate future it’s not possible to continue.
I certainly won’t be deleting the blog since there’s some useful information here (I get up to 1000 visitors a day, plus or minus, so there must be something of interest š ).
However I will be locking it in an effort to combat spam (which does, in spite of best efforts, occasionally slip through). I know that’s inconvenient, but it’s necessary. PMing or e-mailing me through the forums will likewise be disabled, or at least ignored.
It might get sparse around here in the short time that’s left, but I still have a few things planned in the week remaining. So don’t get all teary-eyed on me yet.

Hey everybody. Thanks for the kind words. If it’s all right, I’m going to leave my destination a mystery right now, and if it seems prudent when I get there, perhaps I’ll give more details. It’s altogether possible that I might be able to somehow incorporate Ubuntu into these new experiences, but it’s way too early to tell right now.
I don’t know offhand of anyone who particularly blogs about Linux on older hardware, but I’m sure they’re out there. I’ve always tried to keep a fresh list of links on the right. Most are Ubuntu-centered, and so it might be a stretch to find one who focuses on older hardware, but you never know. I know CoachDANNY is working on a repainting project. š
Either way, visit occasionally in the next few weeks. I don’t know what my schedule will be like or even if I’ll have reliable and regular Internet access, but it’s altogether possible that I’ll be able to start up again. On the other hand, if you don’t see anything new after a month or so. … š¦
