may be inevitable the compilation of fbdev and fbcon
using the hw’s relative driver
and then using vesafb .

Try to edit
/etc/sysconfig ,
adding to
/etc/sysconfig/kernel/MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT
your module video.
Then using the F6 – F7 keys.

I use it on all my machines, even desktop, to configure all my power saving stuff.
