The problem with debates about Linux “desktop readiness” is often there is no agreed-upon criteria by which to judge whether Linux has been successful or not.

i’ve had tons of wireless issues: at first i couldn’t ssh onto computers that weren’t on my network. i found a temporary fix that they eventually fixed in an update (which are fewer and further between than the normal ubunto repo)

other than that, it’s been awesome. still wish they’d've gone with not broadcom on the wireless and a better supported video option, but still a much happier purchase being that it was $50 cheaper than the equivalent windows machine.
