Fix released, I win

This is for all the haters, the trolls, the Unix elitists and self-appointed Linux experts, the old-school Unix purists, antitechnoegalitarians and newb-haters, the people who know better than me or you or anyone else, those who were birthed by computers, the people who were conceived in the back rooms of the Bell Systems laboratories, the people who think children should run with scissors so they learn not to, the people who think learning through mistakes is a requirement for using computers, those who think posting malicious commands is good fun, and those who just plain can’t tolerate the idea of taking one small step to make a system a teeny bit safer for a new person.

kmandla@cc99p01:~$ uname -a
Linux cc99p01 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 22:56:21 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
kmandla@cc99p01:~$ sudo rm -rf /
rm: cannot remove root directory `/'

Fix released. I win. 😈

Of course, if somebody’s going to feed someone who doesn’t know better malicious commands, they can always just have the victim toggle the –no-preserve-root flag. It’s hardly secret, black magic. It’s right in the man page.

    And if I do:

    cd /
    rm -rf .

P.S. As I know, this feature in suse was very, very long ago…
