I don’t even use a DE on this computer, I limit myself to Openbox and a panel, which is quite underkill for an Intel Q6600 with 3gb of RAM and an Nvidia 9600GT. Heck, I should probably be trying to run Windows Vista on this black and blue LED monolith, but it just feels so wonderful to go with a lightweight desktop and reap even miniscule performance benefits.

I meant that there have been few well-presented and complete options for older hardware. Modern computer owners have the luxury of using whatever they like — whether it’s Gnome or LXDE. An old machine loses a good portion of those options because Gnome, as an example, is too fat. But please, use whichever you like. I meant no offense.
