I’ve purchased 2 of these: 1 loaded with Vista (zeroed drive & loaded Kubuntu 7.10) and the other is coming preloaded with 7.10 (hasn’t arrived yet).

The one I’ve got is great. It’s my wife’s main box, and everything seems to work well, even suspend/sleep, I believe. She doesn’t need that feature primarily, so I can’t really comment on that either as its only been tried a couple times.

I’ll order a 3rd for myself (the 2nd on its way is for my uncle) since I don’t anticipate any issues. I love playing on the one we have in the house

Good to hear that she likes it, and that everything seems to be working alright.

My mom, who currently has a Win XP powered Dell, is thinking of buying a new one. I’ll try to convince her to go for a Linux powered one as well. (Who knows, the argument “See. K.Mandla’s mom has one as well, and she’s happy with it.” might help convince her )

I’m not sure; I’ll ask. I should ask about DVD playback too. I don’t know how often or even if she would use suspend, etc., so I doubt it would be a dealbreaker.

Does she take advantage of suspend/sleep on lid-close? And, if so, any hiccups?
