The last paragraph about an owner removing their personal information from their hard drive before they turn a computer in for repair is Great Advice. It will save the owner from a lot of personal information problems and it will save money.

A lot of shops once they find questionable files on a computer will do a total format which cost labor and most of the time purchasing a new version of Windows because the owner does not have a copy anymore.

I've given out copies of Ubuntu over the years to several repair shops in the surrounding area for them to use as an alternative to customers purchasing Windows. The shops can still charge the customer for installing an Operating System, but the customer will not get a $200 bill for purchasing Windows. Sometimes a customer will go to Linux, but most of the time they simply abandon the computer to the shop owner.
