Arch’s -LCD font packages

Edit: Unfortunately, the images originally included in this post are gone, because of hosting problems in late 2009. My apologies.

It’s funny: Only a day or two after I mention the font displays on my Thinkpad, and how I like that they’re kind of pixellated, I followed an Arch forum thread to the wiki page for the -LCD font packages.

And wouldn’t you know it? The fonts on that little machine are now just as crisp and clean as any other machine in the house.

I did have to reapply all the font settings I listed a long time ago, but the end result is much, much better than it was on Monday. I’ll have to try this on some other machines — particularly the XO-1 — and see if there’s a similar change.

I always seem to find something new about Linux, every day. … :)
