Look, I agree the lightbox is cool. Or at least it was cool, a couple of years ago. Now it’s just another something that I have to wait to load, then navigate through at a reduced rate of speed, then wait while it unloads so I can go back to what I was doing.
I’m being painfully honest when I say I’m not a fan. I appreciate a good looking blog, but behind the scenes I need it to move fast and furious. The wait time on visual effects for things like image management and widget control only reinforces my decision to host images off-site, and avoid managing the widgets at all.
Behind the scenes, give me speed and control, not fluff.
Okay, now back to the important things … like building a computer that can handle all those effects out of only a stock VIC-20, a spool of cotton thread, three sticks of bubblegum and a roll of sello tape. …
