I am using their standard edition on celeron 450mhz and slighty more ram and it feel snapy enough for me. Keep in mind that key is tuning distro for old pc not just picking the right one. On my other notebook HP nc 6000 i was using vector 5.8 soho handy tuned to boot to 36mb ram used. (yep with KDE).Just google for “optimize linux for old pc ” .

If it doesnt work for ya there’s stil DSL , puppy and bsd family.

Or, if you really think that you’ll just end up back at Ubuntu then why not just stop wasting your time and reinstall it then give your poor laptop a rest.
