PriceChild (yes, our PriceChild, he of by-name-mention-on-sabdfl’s-blog fame), pointed this out in a thread. I don’t know why, but it’s kind of exciting to me to think the Compiz and Beryl camps might reintegrate.
If you ask me, and I’m about as far removed from either project as is humanly possible, there’s nothing to be lost in a merge, since a refork is always a possibility. I say go for it.
